DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division APO San Francisco 96225 GENERAL ORDERS NUMBER 10437 15 August 1969 AWARD OF THE SILVER STARZUZULOCK, CARL M. 14430992 1LT SIGC USA HHC, 1st Bde, 25th Inf Div Awarded: Silver Star Date action: 16 June 1969 Theater: Republic of Vietnam Reason: For gallantry in action: First Lieutenant Zuzulock distinguished himself by heroic actions on 16 June 1969, while serving as a Signal Officer with the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division in the Republic of Vietnam. While established at a small signal installation, elements of the 1st Brigade came under an intense enemy attack. During the initial engagement, the defensive perimeter was infiltrated. Immediately, Lieutenant Zuzulock maneuvered to the main signal installation and insured that all signal elements continued uninterrupted operation. Lieutenant Zuzulock organized a reactionary force and led his men in a sweep of the area. Although under heavy fire, Lieutenant Zuzulock, with complete disregard for his own safety, succeeded in driving the insurgents from the area. His valorous actions contributed immeasurably to the success of the mission and the defeat of the hostile force. Lieutenant Zuzulock’s bravery, aggressiveness, and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, the 25th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
